In reality there’s no 100% sure way to tell if you’re Xbox 360 is going to break, but you can find out if you’re machine is one of the consoles likely to go sour.
Here’s how it breaks down: In response to a staggering rate of failure for the 360, Microsoft decided to fix the heat sink issue with its console. The earlier Xbox 360s tend to lack the new heat sink, and the older Xbox 360s tend to have the new heat sink.
If you’re console doesn’t have the new heat sink, there’s a good chance you’re going to witness the red ring of death soon, but, if you’re curious as to whether your 360 has the new heat sink, BenHeck.com has the deetson how to tell without voiding your warranty:


1. Stand your Xbox 360 vertically and turn it upside down.

2. Take a digital camera with the flash turned on and, as Ben Heck says, “Stick your camera up in that hole…” Your camera should focus around the holes in the grate.

. Check the picture. If you can see straight through to the side of your DVD drive, than you’re Xbox doesn’t have the new heat sink. If you can’t see your DVD drive, than you’ve got the new heat sink and your machine probably won’t break.
Unfortunately for Ben Heck, his 360 doesn’t have the new heat sink, as you can see below.

Unfortunately, I can’t tell you how to fix this issue, but at least you’ll know if your Xbox 360 will take a trip back to Microsoft HQ.

ואנחנו כמובן יכולים גם לשבת בבית סגורים בארון כדי שלא תדרוס אותנו מכונית. או לקנות קונסולה שפעם היו לה 16% סיכוי למות (והיום הרבה פחות) ולהינות מכל המשחקים הכי טובים שיש מאשר לשאול מה נשחק... טניס! עם המשחק שהגיע עם הקונסולה כי אין יותר מזה!

זו בעיה, כי אין אלטרנטיבות נורמליות.
כלומר, יש נגן בלוריי אחד שגם מריץ כמה משחקים טובים אבל הוא די יקר.
ויש גם איזה משהו לא ברור שמודדים בו משקל וזורקים בו שלטים על טלוויזיות בלי קשר למה שקורה על המסך ובלי אונליין.
אבל למי שרוצה לקנות קונסולה בשביל לשחק משחקים ולא בשביל שטויות אחרות, אין עוד אלטרנטיבות. לכן צריך לוודא שקונים קונסולה תקינה.

אשמח אם מישהו ינצל את הטיפ שהבאתי בכתבה המקורית ולא יגרור
את הדיון למקומות לא רלוונטים.

אם תעלו תמונות של מצב ה-heat sink שלכם תוכלו לדעת מה קורה
שם מבלי לאבד את האחריות על ה-360.

אולי אני אנסה את זה כשאגיע הביתה (או את ווגס 2, מה שיבוא לי יותר)

ולמי שרוצה לדעת אם הלוח אם שלו הוא FALCON שפשוט יסתכל בחיבור של הספק כוח שעל המכשיר - באלה שהם לא פאלקון, כלומר 203W יש מן פין כזה בין שתי השורות של הפינים של הספק כוח
בפאלקון 175W יש פשוט שתי שורות של 3 פינים כל אחד בלי פין אמצע במחבר
זה מונע מ203W לחבר ל175W ושלא ישרפו אותו...

בוזמן, מקווה שזה יותר מסודר בשבילך לביצוע, ממליץ לכולם לנסות ולהעלות
את התמונות לנושא שפתחתי ולאחר מכן נעבור לשלב הטכני הבא והוא תיקון
הטבעת למי שנגמר לו האחריות ולא רוצה לשלוח את המכשיר לחו"ל.
אני מקווה שאני לא מגזים עם מדריכים טכניים למתקדמים אבל הם הכרחיים
לכל אחד ואחד מאיתנו.

The lens should “focus around” all the small holes. Be sure to use a flash so it lights up the inside.

As you can see my XBox 360 Core, purchased in June with a build date on the faceplate of 11/07 does not have the new heat sink since we can see straight through to the side of the DVD player. Darn. Good thing I kept the receipt.

So now everyone can check their new Elites, Premiums and Cores to see if and when the new heat sinks started showing up in units. You can find a manufacture date behind the not-voiding-to-remove faceplate, which of course is just the date of the faceplate but should give some indication.

What the new extended GPU heat sink (left) will look like in comparision to the standard CPU heat sink.
