Nintendo drops the Megaton Out of Tokyo this morning (mid-day in Japan) Nintendo has announced the move that could change gaming forever.
(Tokyo)- In an announcement early this morning, Nintendo and Sony executives announced that they had come to a legal agreement over the rights to the name 'Playstation'. The name, which was originaly given to a joint-venture CD rom based add-on for the Super Nintendo, was technically, a joint-owned copyright. Sony has agreed to pay Nintendo 10% of all past and future proceeds made off of the name. This ammounts to a whopping 2.3 billion USD in back-payments. Nintendo will allow Sony to pay the money back in installments instead of a lump sum over the next 20 years. However, Nintendo has plans for their new found source of income. They will immidietly finance a new game studio called 'The Artists Group' which will feature members of Sega, Nintendo, Namco, Capcom, Konami, Tecmo, Square-Enix and more to collaborate on projects for Nintendo systems, and exchange copyrighted properties. The first projects announced out of this new studio are a new RPG using various gaming icons as the central charachters, a new Smash Brothers game, featuring mascots from accross the companies, including Pacman, Megaman, Sonic, Mario and more, as well as a new Sega-AM2 developed racing game that will also feature multiple icons from the various companies. The final collaboration is the recently announced Viewtifull Joe from Capcom stuidios. Nintendo has also promised that completely original more collaborations between studios will take place in the future, but for now, they will be focusing on quality content showcasing the newfound bond between the various development houses. Contrary to internet rumors however, Nintendo has not as of yet purchased any software developers, and as such, all members of the Artists Group will be allowed to explore development on other systems of their own accord. More as it develops.

Nintendo Europe launches the countdown of Megaton 2002-12-17 15:02:58 Hier, you could discover the first details of future announces of Nintendo. Today, we are able to announce that the persons in charge for Nintendo France, Nintendo the U.K., Nintendo Spain and other European divisions are in this moment even at the HQ of Nintendo Europe in Germany to attend a meeting relating to the advertisement of Nintendo, "The Megaton to you". The countdown and launched: a member of Nintendo has just declared us: "the advertisement will be made soon".

נשמע מטופש שזה מאירופה אבל יש לזה כנראה סיבה. בדרך כלל הדלפות מידע מנינטנדו תמיד הגיעו מאירופה, תמיד מדליפים מ-NOE. עכשיו.. NOA ו-NCL יודעים חודשים לפני על המגטון, ויעני עכשיו הדבר הובא ל-NOE, ובגלל זה הכל מודלף משם. בגלל זה יש שם עכשיו ישיבה, גרמניה, צרפת ואנגליה דנים על האסטרטגיה של נינטנדו... הלוואי וזה נכון.  ------------------

Megaton fails to register as gossip frenzy engulfs Nintendo Much strangeness indeed. Nintendo of Japan is remaining tight-lipped on everything and anything concerning, well, anything. Today has seen a fresh bout of rumblings emanating from Kyoto, all of which vary hugely. Overnight, gossip stated that Nintendo did indeed own at least a percentage of the PlayStation brand, following a failed relationship with Sony to develop a CD add-on for the SNES way back in 1992. This is, at least for now, widely disbelieved. The talk is that Nintendo will be suing Sony for a ludicrous sum, with which it plans to fund a collection of gaming super-brains to power the console future. The latter part of this story carries some weight. Allow us to explain... You may remember that last Friday, we brought you news that certain loose-lipped NEC staff members had been speaking in Japan about a possible deal with Nintendo to develop the next home console from the firm. Nintendo at the time vehemently denied this. Then, further gossip stated that Nintendo had disbanded its team that was initially charged with research and development of future systems. In news breaking today, it would seem that Nintendo is indeed poised to make the announcement that it will be partnering with NEC to form an R&D; studio of some sort. Furthermore, the Kumamoto facility, originally used for the production of Sega's doomed Dreamcast console, has been pegged as the centre for the alliance. In all of this, the supposed Megaton Announcement seems to have become somewhat derailed. Insiders at Nintendo Europe, speaking to us directly, claim that nothing is in the announcement pipeline, as far as they are aware. These are the same people, working out of the firm's German headquarters, that disclosed the first details of the next Game Boy release to us earlier this year. And so the wait continues. Nintendo to Sue Sony. Nintendo to Buy Capcom. Nintendo to Buy Sega. Nintendo to reveal Mario 128. Nintendo to unveil the GBA2. Nintendo to unveil the GameCube 2.
