Now I do know that most of the reviews gave it average scores so far (usually docking points for things that never made the final product, yuck!), but from what I played at e3, Enclave looked to be one of the best games out there. Enclave was released in Europe last week and so far many people who have purchased it has posted in great depth about it and are enjoying the game immensely; most saying this is one of the best Xbox games yet! What I have done is gathered many great quotes from these gamers about Enclave so skeptics can see why this is still a AAA game for the Xbox despite it not having multiplayer...yet! And just to let you all know, Play Magazine gave this game a 5/5. Last time I checked, they are one of the few realiable magazine reviewers! Anyway, onto the Enclave gamers' quotes (sorry it is long but it's VERY detailed, hopefully you guys will have some time to check it all out, thanks)-
Gameplay-
"I too also have it (a day early YAY!) it is like DW3 in that the attack moves are all the same with the same weapon. However it's combat is much more complex then simply pressing a button over and over. because of attack speeds and sheilds (yours and your enemmies) close-combat is very tactical, dodging blows to move into a weakspot and striking, keeping them at bay with a longer ranged weapon, setting them on fire with fire arrows and running away to let them burn, shooting the ground in front of them with exploding arrows to keep them back. Add into this the weapons of different classes and there respect speeds and you have something to suit almost anyones style of play.
There are a few problems, the AI is bad for the most part, the game sometimes crashes (very annoying) and trying to protect a merchant that rushes towards combat headfirst is very tiresom. But over this game si FANTASTIC!...I agree (having also got the game) with everything apart from A.I. (I personaly find it average at best with orcs but great with Assassins) I too love the way something is always happening and if nothing is happening then you got to worry (usualy something BIG happens after a short break)...The gameplay is amazing. The direction of your swing is dictated by the direction of your movement, thus if you see a gap in the eneemie's defense you move forward and the direct and take a swing (a broad or narrow depending) and do dame then back off, hopefuly with your shield between yourself and the bad guy. Truely this game is loads of fun, apart from that bit with the skeletons, you know where you got to jump on those platforms. That bit is very tense""

"This game is a lot like Max Panye, but with swords. The gameplay is like max, but very different. Get gold upgrade your weapons, you know, better sword, better armor you know the deal...the First person mode is good for shooting arrows at the enemy, but when you get in a cornor or a tight area it can go in and out of first person and back to 3rd back and forth back and forth. you might get hit if your using the crossbow if the enemy gets to close. So when this happens just use your sword because the crossbow takes to long to reload. AI is good, the enemys can get that cheap hit in which I hate ,but they do put up a good fight though. The levels so far are kinda short.I did notice that they were getting a lot longer as I got farther in the game. not to worry.. this game is long. I played 7 missions in about 2 1/2 hours. so no worrys...I love the fact that things are always happening around you, walls falling, Barrels being thrown at you from the enemy. The jumping and the controls are the only things i don't like about the gameplay. everything else is AWESOME!!"
-Bloodsack
"controls are real smooth, same as max payne or halo, and the black button switches you between first and third person views, which is great as sometimes for instance when using long ranged wepaons like crossbows or magic etc, its nice in 1st person mode as you get a little more zoom on the action and the third person to watch your guy use the handheld weapons like axe's and swords etc, and of course to see the splendid animations."
Bad Monk
"The action is fun and can get pretty frantic at times...Well, it is kind of like Max Payne with a medieval twist. There isn't a bullet-time effect. But they have made the arrow shooting pretty cool. I would recommend it to anyone though."
-Drakan
"You'll get stuck into this game ones you've started it up. Really fun, and addictive. Those Goblin can get annoying though. The enemy AI isn't that good, it's average. It's not Halo (then again, nothing is), but it's good enough."
-Snide17
"the AI seems good to me. if youre equipped with a bow, close range enemys charge at you but if you pull out a shield and sword then they stop charging, noticing your able to now defend yourself in close combat, they then take a different combat approach."
-strike3
"Controls are fine. They are broadly the same setup as Halo (and I would imagine every other first/third person shooter now in development). If you managed OK with the controls in Halo then you'll be fine with Enclave. Nor are they unresponsive. I can't think of a better set up for console controls...The enemies aren't as intelligent as they could be. Certainly not compared to those in Halo. But they're not dumb either. This was really brought home to me on the deserted temple level. *Spoiler coming up* - there's a bit where you have to cross a bridge over a bottomless chasm. An enemy on the other side runs towards you waving his weapon, the bridge collapses and down he goes. Later on, an assasin came running towards me from the other side of the bridge and I thought, 'I'll just watch this dumbass fall to her doom' but instead, she took a flying leap over the gap, and while I was busy picking my chin up off the floor, she twatted me. Pure class.
Hmmmm... I'm in two minds on no mid level save points. I guess one side of the argument is that no save points means higher levels of tension because you know that death means a restart. And certainly on a couple of occasions I've been sweaty palmed battling enemies, knowing that I'm close to the end of a mission and very close to death. On the other hand, nothing can ruin a game more than a quick save key. I remember playing through Jedi Knight 2, hitting the quick save key before every corner. After a while I just gave up because I wasn't enjoying the game as there was no tension at all.
I think the answer is somewhere in between. Maybe a system like Halo's or one like Soldier of Fortune where you are give a limited number of save points which you have to use wisely. For me Enclave hasn't got it right... but it's not a game killer and I can live with it."

Graphics-
"graphically its def up there alonside Halo, castle wolf and max payne.its a beautiful game with real nice textures and lighting effects, and the character animations are awesome...gfx are fantastic, the gfx are almost photoreal in parts and shadows etc are gr8...nice animations...i have played though about 8 levels so far and i aint experienced any lag or slowdown, and the 3d world of enclave that you explore is beautiful"
-Bad Monk
"OMG! Another great aspect of it. The arrows actually stick into your enemies and you can see them walking around with them. Light is reflected in pools of blood on the ground. Everything about this game is amazing...you can see light reflecting off of a dead enemy's blood on the floor...Every now and then there is a slight hiccup, mostly in the cutscenes, but they are few and far between and don't detract from the experience."
-Drakan
"yeah and it (arrow) sticks in you, i had an arrow through my knights throat for a while. It's cool when you got heaps in your shield"
-OddEye
"I just saw the light shining through the temple roof. OMG it looks good."
-Gryff
"The graphics are really good...The falling of walls looks soo awesome!!! I've never seen walls falling in such beauty before on a home system."
-Bloodsack
"There is no lag at all - at least none that I've seen. Can't remember where this comment came from, but someone said it lagged a bit like an online game with a high ping. it doesn't.
Again, I haven't seen this even during some fairly hectic scenes with scenery exploding around me. There may a slight degree of slowdown in some of the more detailed areas - with the emphasis on slight - but hardly noticeable at all. Remember the final scene in Halo where you're racing the warthog through the corridoors? That was jerky. There are no framerate issues like that in Enclave that I have seen. "
-MaxoBiddy
"Great graphics, smooth frame rate. The only thing that actually bothers me iis that blood dissapears before it hits the floor, but not like it matters, there's already alot of blood on the floors already. People's mouth actually move when they talk, like in Halo (none of those flat faces people that say alot of things but don't have any expersions)."
-Snide17
Characters+Weapons-
"I have grown a good likeing to the Huntress and her multi-shot , shooting 5 arrows into an orc at once is just pure fun (or 5 flaming arrows towards a crowd hehe)...yes so far every character has a unique weapon class (like staffs for the Druid, Bows for the huntress aprart from Knight) but common features as well (daggers for the Druids and Huntress, crossbows for the knight, huntress and Halflin). Staffs for example give the druid spells (the poison one is great) and different arrows and bolts and shields and weapons give different ways of playing. For example a slow heavy weapon would mean you have to be very selective about how you attack (position wise and direction wise) where as a faster, lighter weapon allows you to hit and run effectively...So far which is your fav character? I quite like the Druid, she's very good in survival mode, give her the poison staff, poison something then RUN around till it dies. However the Knight is also good with his shield (you see the arrows stick into it and you, thats also cool as it adds to the realism)...I quite like the halflin and the huntress. The posioned crossbow bolts are fantastic for the halflin, but those exploding arrows and loading up loads of fire arrows on you huntress is just top stuff huh?..."
-OddEye
"Hafling is cool!! Man is this game hard!! I LOVE IT!!
Hafling all brutal with armor and shield and a big axe! I also find the huntress to be just as bad ass!! Those zoom arrows are amazing, head shots every time. The knights ok, but I wouldn't use him all the time. So far the halfling is the best!...Man! with the huntress, you can mo down everybody"
-Bloodsack
"...the weapons are way more cooler than i expected
not just boring arrows here matey as FPS fans will rejoice with some of the more customised additions like fire and grenade arrows, and some bows can load up to 8 arrows at a time, not unlike rocket launchers...i am a BIG FPS nut and 90% of my games collection are FPS games, and Enclave should appeal to all FPS fans as the controls are the same, and the weapons like those firearrows where u load up 8 at a time, woohoo or those nades, nice..."
-Bad Monk
"...I've never had so much fun playing with a female huntress type character...The Huntress does indeed own, but my man is the knight at the moment. One thing i love about the Huntress is that when you pull far back on the bow and shoot someone at point blank, it does vast amounts of damage. Also, I like loading the bow full of arrows and spraying them out at numerous enemies."
-Drakan
Longevity/Replay Value-
"how many hours so far? maybe 5-8 hours to get through about 10 missions, but I haven't collected even 2/3's of the possible gold, which means I'm going to go back and get some more so I can buy some health potions and best of all, MORE ARROWS!! I'd say the game is at least a 40 hour one, considering you have light AND dark to play as and if you want to collect ALL the gold then it's going to be a 60 hour + game ... Yeah, your right, it may be that there are a ton of things like survival modes, but 60 was a conservative guess. I'm sure 100 is wholely possible."
-OddEye
"As you go along the game you can unlock different characters. You have to complete the entire game with the light side if you want to play as the dark side. You can collect gold, and buy weapons and armour. And later on you can fight in some little place with enemies and you win gold if you kill them all. The harder the setting, the more gold you get on that."
-Snide17
"If you do not rescue that person you will have to take a longer route but you will eventually reach the same end of the level."
-Master Smartie
"And yes, you can go back and replay the stages whenever you want. You do that to get extra gold as well. Plus there are bonus stages which you can go to. Oh and you can also view the video's whenever you want."
-Drakan
"You're supposed to play each map multiple times, to find all gold and all special items that enable the secret challenge levels"
-Chavez (Enclave developer)
"Don't forget about the MULTIPLE secret characters which look like they'll own any other character in the game (well, the one I saw at e3 looked pretty damn scarry)!"
-Pfhor
Overall Experience-
"Yeah the best thing about this game is that it's not trying to be what it isn't. It's a deep, fast, furious and fun slash feast through levels packed with insane amounts of extras and hidden things (just try finding all the gold in a level, you'll be there for hours)...I love it, I can honestly say it's one of my top 5 XBOX games and oneof my top 10 next-gen games (and alot of that top ten is DC)"
-OddEye
"I will say this is my second faverite game next to halo! I've been waiting a long time for a game like this on xbox and I can't get over how amazing this game is!! It's sooooooo much better the everybodys has said it is...These levels are getting so cool!!...I thought the game so far as been really cool. I read all the reviews and I like it alot more then they did. Some people might not like it because they have to be so picky about everything. I'm really enjoying Enclave alot!! I know I haven't played the game long enough to give it a proper review, but thats what I think of it so far...."Who ever doesn't have this game, your missing out BIG TIME!!!"
9/10"
-Bloodsack
"...i aint played it for long yet, but as of now this is exactly what i wanted in Enclave, a 1st/3rd person adventure game with awesome gfx and sound and gr8 gameplay...if yr unsure then rent 1st, but if u like me, have had yr eyes on this game for a long time and seen all screen shots and video clips, then BUY IT NOW DUDE!!...right i spent some time on Enclave today and i gotta honestly say its one of the best games (imho) that i have ever played...i honestly love this game and i normally can tell with a game after a few plays whether i like it or not and this is pure class........ was gonna play online 2nite, but me thinks will just play more on enclave...before i got Enclave i knew most of what to expect, but its much better than i thought it was gonna be...multiplayer would be awesome in this game, putting it prob up there with Halo, but all that adside, this is an amazing game, that i am sure will be a big hit, only one question, what was the reviewer in UK OXBM thinking (or smoking) when he gave this game a 5/10.................................damn. "
-Bad Monk
"THIS GAME ****ING ROCKS!!!
it is sooooooo the best game i have at the minute
oxm says 5.8
Thats a misprint in my mind
it should be 8.5"
-Majin_Vegeta
"For those people on this forum not in the UK... save your pennies, count the days and prepare for a great game. Encalve rocks."
-MaxoBiddy
"It's a great game, think Diablo 2 on the PC. Lots of action and lots of mission.
9.4/10"
-Snide17
"Enclave is a pretty polished product and one of the better games on the XBox right now."
-KungFu
