Pokemon still an unstoppable force Nintendo of Japan has seen its shares leap by 8 percent in overnight trading following the release of the first official sales data from its latest Pokemon offerings, Ruby and Sapphire. Already pushing 2.4 million individual sales at retail, after only three weeks on the shelves, analysts are widely predicting a renaissance of Pokemania to top that seen in the late nineties, when Pikachu, Squirtle and Jigglypuff rocketed Nintendo to the top of the games industry earners, more than doubling any success enjoyed by Sony Computer Entertainment. However, in a report released by Reuters, it has emerged that sales of the latest GameCube offering to hit Japan, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, have fallen off slightly since its launch on December 13th. Nintendo HQ is attributing this to the massive demand for new Pokemon games and Game Boy Advance units. Financial analysts are now widely predicting a huge, merchandising-led profit spike for the Kyoto based firm, at least in its home country of Japan. It is expected that if sales of Ruby and Sapphire in the US mirror those in Japan, Nintendo will again be able to pretty much put its feet up for another few years. It’s worth remembering that, if it weren’t for Pokemon, Nintendo could well have gone the same way as Sega in recent times. At this moment, we are unable to bring you a definitive release date for Ruby and Sapphire, though the duo are expected to hit retail next summer. There has also been no word on the GameCube Pokemon RPG, which was strongly hinted at by Nintendo representatives at this year’s E3 Expo. We’ll keep you updated on all things “I choose you,” as they break. ------------------

Megaton rears up again as new disc technology emerges
In a report filed in US Intensity Magazine, it appears that Nintendo Japan is poised to make a major technological announcement at next year’s Consumer Electronics Show, (CES), due to take place in Las Vegas between the 9th and 10th of January. Although nothing was revealed as the content of this announcement, speculation is growing that this will comprise at least part of the now infamous Megaton Announcement, which thus far has proved highly illusive. However, we can reveal that this announcement is likely to be in relation to a new form of disc based data storage, which is in development at the moment. According to reports from Japan today, Matsushita, the firm that partnered Nintendo on certain aspects of development for GameCube, is working in conjunction with Osaka University, (just round the corner from Capcom’s HQ funnily enough) to release a disc-based data storage medium capable of holding up to 15 terabytes of data. That’s 300 bigger than a DVD folks! We believe that Nintendo will announce a working name for its future console at CES and that this will make up at least part of the machine’s integral DNA. Expect more soon, and remember where you saw this first… ------------------

אני לא אמרתי שהם נכשלים... אני שמח שמריו פארטי כבר כמעט הגיע לחצי מיליון.   אם התמונות לא עובדות, תעתיקו ל-ADDRESS BAR ולחדשות מוזרות מאוד... אני אמרתי את זה בצחוק... ואולי זה יקרה. נינטנדו קונים את... MIDWAY?!!? טוב נו... מורטל קומבט בלעדי. 
Due to all the Megaton rumors involving the buy-out Capcom or Sega, our staff discussed in yesterday's roundtable which companies would be best for Nintendo to make a bid for. No one thought Midway would be a great pick, but with these latest developments, that might change for Nintendo. We will bring you word from Midway's conference call later today if they make any new statements about a possible acquisition by a company.
Midway Games Inc. is battling to stay alive and is looking for other video game publishers to buy the company, sources said Friday. Industry executives close to the situation say the company has approached at least two firms about a deal. However, Midway is not saying whether a potential buy would be an acquisition or a merger. Electronic Arts is the publisher in the healthiest condition, but they are reportedly not interested in buying Midway. Activision has also been named as another buyer, yet have recently announced their own financial troubles. After 12 consecutive quarterly losses, Midway faces a crucial holiday season. Even with strong sales of its "Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance," analysts are speculating about how long the company can survive as an independent entity. "They're doing OK, not great," said UBS Warburg analyst Michael Wallace. "They have one game in the top 10, and that's 'Mortal Kombat.' But all their other games did not perform well." Midway in November sold 345,000 copies of "Mortal Kombat," helping the company generate .6 million in U.S. retail sales. But sales of its other key titles -- "Dr. Muto," "Defender" and "Haven: Call of the King" -- fared poorly, with just 21,000 combined copies sold, according to Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities. Midway has been fearful of similar circumstances before. Due to lack of profits, they were forced to phase out their arcade business in the mid-1990's. After heavy investments into developing console games for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube, Midway this year fully shed its arcade business and faces its first year of revenue entirely based on consoles. Heightening the expectation that the company may be sold soon, Viacom Inc.'s chairman and chief executive, Sumner M. Redstone, has sustained his longtime personal investment in Midway stock and owns more than 18% of the company's shares outstanding. His former wife, Phyllis, owns nearly 8% of the company. Some say Redstone purchased the shares in hopes that he would reap a return in the event of a sale of the company.

באמת? באסה!
3 הוא כמו משחק אקשן, כל כך הרבה זומבים שאפשר להשתגע. (בערך פי 5-6 מ-RE)
הראשון הוא כמו מן גישוש באפלה, הנסיון הראשון ליצור משחק בסידרה (למרות שה-REMAKE שיפר אותו נפלאות ואני הייתי מחריז על ה-REMAKE כמשחק הכי טוב בסידרה).
השני הוא באמת הכי טוב ביחוד מבחינת עלילה.
היומני קריאה הכי מעניינים ועלילה ממש טובה. ביחוד הסיפור עם ראש העיר של Racoon City.
ב-REMAKE, הבוס האחרון היה מן יצור שלא כל כך קשור לעלילה, כאילו סתם בא להם לעשות מפלצת מגניבה.
ב-2 יש סיפור שמתקדם יפה ואתה כל הזמן מגלה דברים חדשים. באמת הכי יפה בסדרה, ביחוד אם אתה אוהב עלילה. ------------------

מוזר מאוד. אם זה נכום אז למגה טון לא תהיה השפעה על הצלחת הקוביה כפי שנמסר בתחילה. אבל זה עדיין מעניין מאוד. מעניין מהו החלק השני של ההכרזה, אם יהיה קיים חלק ראשון בכלל. ובקשר לשמועה על רכישתה של Midway, למה שנינטנדו תרצה לרכוש אותה? Midway יכולה לתרום לה? מידווי שווה משהו? חוץ ממורטל קומבט שגם הוא אני לא בטוח שירים קונסולות מהמדפים. אגב, הביטו על המשחקים שאני מוכר. אני מעוניין להחליף אותם במורטל קומבט החדש וטיים ספליטר 2. כל כותר במשחק. החלפה קבועה, לא זמנית. ציטוט:

שיחקת בוורוניקה?? גם אני מאוד הייתי שמח אם קפקום היתה עושה רימייק ל-RE2. דווקא התאכזבתי שקפקום בחרה באחוזה ב-RE0 ולא באזור פתוח כמו ב-RE2, כי אז זה היה פחות ממחזר.

שיחקת בוורוניקה?? גם אני מאוד הייתי שמח אם קפקום היתה עושה רימייק ל-RE2. דווקא התאכזבתי שקפקום בחרה באחוזה ב-RE0 ולא באזור פתוח כמו ב-RE2, כי אז זה היה פחות ממחזר.
לא שחקתי בוורוניקה, באמת שמעתי שהוא ממש טוב, אני אנסה אותו ב-2006 ב-RE2 לא היה כמעט איזורים פתוחים, רק ה-10 דקות הראשונות היו ברחובות של RACOON CITY.
ב-RE3 היה די הרבה איזורים פתוחים, זה מה שלא כל כך אהבתי בו (לדעתי הוא ה-RE הכי גרוע אבל עדיין משחק טוב. אהבתי את נמסיס). ------------------
